AgriThera’s initial goal is to effectively treat intractable epilepsy that is currently treated with Epidiolex® as well as treat developmental epileptic encephalopathy (DEE), which qualifies for orphan drug status. Upon a successful market entry, AgriThera will pivot to other therapeutic areas, such as pain and anxiety.
Epilepsy is a complex neurological disorder
- Two or more unprovoked seizures occurring more that 24 hours apart.
- Onset at any age however most syndromes are diagnosed during childhood.
- More than two dozen epilepsy subtypes.
- Etiology includes trauma, genetic mutations (NMDA, GABA, SCN1A) origins in developmental aberrations.
